Burcham Hills is an upscale senior living retirement community located in the backyard of Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI. We currently has a vacancy for a Director of Food and Beverage to work a Full Time schedule. In this position a Director of Food and Beverage will be responsible for directing the operations of the Dining Services Department. Serve on leadership team.and in addition to but not limited to the following duties:

  • Plan, organize, implement, evaluate and direct the Dining Services Department, its programs and activities.
  • Oversee the coordination of Dining Services Department activities with other related departments.
  • Oversee the process of developing and maintaining written records, including job descriptions and job specifications, departmental policies and procedures, equipment and supply inventory and maintenance records, budget and cost control records and personnel records.
  • Oversee the department to ensure compliance with local, state and federal governing agency guidelines.
  • Develop and review a plan of correction for department deficits noted during surveys and other inspections.
  • Serve on, participate in and attend various committees of the committee of the community as required, and as appointed by the Executive Director.
  • Meet with department personnel on a regularly scheduled basis. Identify and correct problem areas and develop methods for improvement of services.
  • Oversee the processes of recruiting, hiring, selecting and training competent employees.
  • Determine departmental staffing requirements necessary to meet the Department’s needs.
  • Oversee scheduling of department work hours and personnel assignments.
  • Prepare and plan the Dining Services Department’s budget for equipment, supplies, labor and food.
  • Forecast needs of the department.
  • Maintain current records of department expenditures and ensure that adequate financial records and cost reports are submitted as necessary.
  • Monitor the Dining Services Department to ensure that all residents’ needs are being met, as pertains to the Department.

Qualifications: Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a management capacity in a healthcare environment. Must have experience in cost control, food service management and personnel management. ServSafe Food, Allergen and Alcohol Certified (or ability to obtain after hire). Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend written and oral instructions in English effectively, as well as follow rules and safety requirements.
