About Us

At MSUFCU, our mission is to provide superior service while assisting members and employees to achieve financial security, their goals, and ultimately, their dreams.

Owned and operated by our members, we serve the Michigan State University, Oakland University, greater Lansing, metro Detroit, and Grand Rapids communities. From our beginning in 1937, where MSU faculty and staff operated out of a desk to opening our 19th branch in 2019, we have experienced tremendous growth—all thanks to support from our members, communities, and employees.

As we continue to grow, we remain passionate about our level of involvement in our community through volunteerism, sponsorship, and donations. In 2018, our employees volunteered over 4,750 hours giving back to the community through programs like Junior Achievement, Girl Scouts, the Sparrow Michigan Mile, and many others. We’ve continued this commitment with our CU Involved initiative, encouraging employees to donate their time to local charitable organizations. Employees also raise funds and awareness for local organizations each year through our yearlong charity campaign, donating more than $231,000 for our four charity partners in 2018. The connections we’ve made allow us to achieve many milestones, and we embrace our role as a community leader and supporter.

We are the 47th largest credit union in the nation, the third largest in Michigan, and offer products and serves that best fit our members’ varied lifestyles.

With more than $4.3 billion in assets, a membership of more than 275,000, over 900 employees, 19 branches, and more ATMs than any other institution in the Greater Lansing area, MSUFCU continues to develop in ways that best benefit its members and their communities. One of the many ways we are able to help make our members’ dreams come true is providing affordable (low rate and no fee) loans. In 2018, the Credit Union saved members $13.4 million in interest on loans by refinancing high-rate loans its members had at other financial institutions. Through dedicated and knowledgeable employees, new technologies, and innovative products and services, we provide services that help our members achieve financial success and security.
