Delta Township Juneteenth Unity Fest

This cultural event honors Juneteenth by celebrating freedom, heritage, enlightenment, and the rich history and contributions of African Americans. Through education, reflection, music, art, and shared fellowship, we bring people together in a spirit of unity, respect, and hope for the future.

Featured Performers

Root Doctor - Root Doctor is an acclaimed Lansing, Michigan-based blues and soul band, founded in 1989 by vocalist Freddie Cunningham and bassist James Williams. Known for a powerful, horn-driven sound, they blend traditional blues with classic soul and original material.

Twyla Birdsong - Twyla Birdsong is a vocalist known for her soulful blending of blues, gospel, jazz, and Motown. She is celebrated for bringing raw emotion to both Motown classics and gospel ballads.

Maxine Hankins Cain PHD - Dr. Maxine Cain is an educator, author, and storyteller, who is a nationally acclaimed keynote speaker whose expertise focuses on empowering others to improve the world around them, through diversity and inclusion.

Julian VanDyke - Julian VanDyke is a celebrated painter, author, and actor whose vibrant murals and community-focused art are iconic. He is also an expressive visual storyteller and children’s book author advocating for arts education and literacy.

Juneteenth History Walk - Take a reflective stroll that highlights a powerful series of displays which trace the journey from the Emancipation Proclamation to Juneteenth. The displays will feature images, quotes, and deeper insights into the delays, resilience, and enduring pursuit of freedom and justice.

Don't Miss The Stroll Show - The nine historically African American Greek Letter sororities and fraternities (“The Divine Nine”) whose collaborative membership forms the National Pan-Hellenic Council of Lansing, will be represented by:
