General Purpose of Job: Serve as a vital part of the Foundation Development Team to deliver a cohesive annual development plan, and support donor stewardship of individual, corporate and foundation funders. Work closely with development team and other colleagues to achieve defined goals around donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.


Essential Duties:

This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis.  Associates may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader.  Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.

  • Serve as the lead to all 3rd party events of which Sparrow is the beneficiary, working with colleagues in volunteer services to support as needed.
  • Coordinate campaign cultivation and solicitation activities, such as hard-hat tours.
  • Lead internal giving campaign, representing the Foundation at new hire orientation booth.
  • Make first time donor thank you calls, logging actions in Raisers Edge and elevating donors to other team members as appropriate for additional follow-up.
  • Responsible for a small gift portfolio, based on corporate donors less than 1K, such as tee sponsors and table sponsors to support the gift officers and enhance the donor pipeline.
  • Support annual fund activities, helping to compile stories, content and statistics for appeals, newsletters and more.
  • Coordinate check presentations, photos and other donor impact moments to steward all level of gifts, from organizational toy-drives to corporate event proceeds and major gift moments, working closely with colleagues across the team and in Sparrow marketing, to ensure promotion/celebration as appropriate.
  • Coordinate donor benefits, including All Access pass, Circle of Sparrow, Donor Clubs and more, from event tickets to cards, gifts and more, working closely with the data team on quarterly and annual updates.
  • Ensure donor sign-off on proofs of donor board plaques, Circle of Sparrow Cards and other naming benefits; send photos and host donors for visits/tours as appropriate once installed.
  • Contribute to an internal atmosphere that encourages high performance, teamwork and continual improvement.
  • Positively represent the Foundation within Sparrow and across the region.
  • Other duties as assigned by Foundation leadership.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:

 

Education:

  • Associate's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Hospitality Management, Business or related field and minimum three (3) years of experience working with volunteers, donor related activities, event planning, fund raising, program coordination or related work experience in a professional setting; OR Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Hospitality Management, Business or related field and minimum one (1) year of experience working with volunteers, donor related activities, event planning, fund raising, program coordination or related work experience in a professional setting.    .

License / Certification:

Experience:

  • See Education.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience working in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as within a team environment.
  • Ability to handle mutiple conflicting priorities with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Preferred:


  • Experience in Raiser's Edge and/or other donor/CRM database.
  • Passion for making a difference in a purpose-driven environment
  • Experience working with volunteers and/or committees.
  • Experience working in a health care organization.
  • Knowledge of fund development basics.
