Position Description & Responsibilities


Position Overview

The Marketing Manager reports to the Vice President, Membership and Marketing. This position works directly with the Digital Media Manager. The position provides leadership, management and implementation of the Chamber’s branding, marketing, digital media, communications, and public relations strategy while working closely with the organizations member engagement, public policy and talent development efforts. In addition, the position will shape, develop, and implement strategies that effectively communicate the Chamber’s regional leadership position to numerous stakeholders.

The role of the Marketing Manager is a critical role for the LRCC and empowers us to tell a compelling narrative about the impact of our work and the success of our members and region. We need this role to be forward-thinking, with a critical eye and creative mind. This role brings organization, passion and energy to our messaging and works with each department to achieve their goals and overall growth for the Chamber.


Responsibilities

The Marketing Manager role provides the overall strategy and execution for the following initiatives:

FOCUS Magazine

  • Point person for FOCUS Magazine for content creation and design
  • Works with LRCC team to develop monthly content & works with design team for Focus cover
  • Provides first edits to copy. Shares proof with LRCC team for final approval
  • Manages ad schedule. Reaches out to monthly advertisers to solicit ads, hyperlinks
  • Works with membership team for NDR sales and renewals
  • Drafts monthly e-communication for FOCUS Magazine
  • Works with printing partner to ensure timely delivery of FOCUS magazine.

E-Newsletters and Communication Calendar

  • Work directly with LRCC team to develop monthly e-communications calendar to highlight upcoming events, marketing opportunities, public policy work, DEI initiatives, etc.
  • Work with design team to build graphics and templates to use in e-communications
  • Draft daily e-communications for final review and distribution
  • Includes e-communications such as LRCC Events, Marketplace Connect, monthly newsletters such as DEI, Capitol Connections.
  • Collects and reviews e-communications analytics to guide e-comms strategy and gauge effectiveness.

Event Marketing & Strategy

  • Work with events and LRCC team in developing strategic marketing communications supporting LRCC event strategies and goals
  • Work with Digital Media Manger to create graphics and other communication tools to support events. This includes but is not limited to PPT’s, graphics, posters, drink tickets, programs, etc.
  • Collaborate with Digital Media Manager in supporting website content development
  • Drafts press releases, media advisories to gain awareness and coverage for LRCC events, programs and other strategic initiatives.

Marketing Initiatives

  • Works with the marketing team to identify and plan quarterly marketing initiatives that align with organizational goals.
  • Complies and analyze key marketing and communications data to evaluate performance and guide future campaigns and strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborates across departments to ensure initiatives are consistent with LRCC’s brand support member engagement, talent development and public policy efforts.
  • Stays informed of trends and best practices in marketing, communications, and public relations to drive innovation and continuous improvement.

Marketplace Connect

  • Point person for monthly Marketplace Connect ad
  • Work with monthly advertisers to solicit ads, hyperlinks
  • Develop and share the monthly communication
  • Works with membership team for NDR sales and renewals


Work Environment

Creative and collaborative environment. Member focused and solution driven organization with professional offices in the Stadium District, downtown Lansing. Hybrid work schedule allows for remote work on designated days.
