We are seeking qualified candidates for our Manufacturing Engineer opportunity to join our Williamston, Michigan team! This position performs the following essential duties and responsibilities:

· Act as liaison with engineering in launching new projects

· Review and set up optimized product flow through standard work

· Continuously monitor manufacturing processes to ensure adherence to product specifications/requirements.

· Identify and lead cost reduction and quality improvement initiatives

· Identify manufacturing processes and parts that can be outsourced

· Identify outside suppliers who have the capability and expertise to manufacture Bekum parts

· Interface with outside suppliers to ensure parts are produced as specified

· Ensure quality of supplier produced parts

· Review and produce routing for production processes

· Analyze production processes and work to optimize

· Responsible for performing all work efficiently and in compliance with quality and safety standards as established by Bekum.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Ensure processes and procedures comply with regulations

· Support staff and material schedules to meet customer requirements.

· Travel to supplier locations to assess and evaluate capabilities as required.

· Resolve and document technical problems of significant impact to performance, cost or schedule.

· Positively reinforce and support company policies, procedures, and work practices.

· Capacity Planning

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering with a concentration in mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, industrial, mechatronics and/or process engineering.
• A thorough knowledge of machining, assembly and fabrication processes is essential.
• Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
• Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

· LEAN manufacturing training is preferred

· Six Sigma training preferred

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

· Experience with AutoCAD

· Working knowledge computers

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

· knowledge of ERP and MRP systems

· Experience in a manufacturing environment

· Strong organizational skills and good written and verbal skills

· Ability to travel
